While hoping that the article would help to stimulate industry-wide thought and action on these issues, the French outdoor equipment company pointed to a misunderstanding about the reaction of quality inspectors at Petzl after the breakage of a via ferrata set that had passed quality control: Although the inspectors at Petzl did ask pointed questions about safety procedures, none of them left the company.
