Outdoor-Profis, the group of nearly 100 German specialty stores under the umbrella of Sport 2000, is about to drop its exclusive outdoor brand, Gentic. According to the group’s chief, Olaf Wittayer, Outdoor-Profis will concentrate its efforts in the future on the most important activities – the services to the affiliated retailers. Wittayer said that the brand is about to be sold, but he cannot mention the buyer’s name since the contract has not been signed yet. Gentic used to be an important brand of climbing apparel before it was sold to SportScheck, the big sporting-goods chain, which used it as a private label. Later on, Scheck sold the brand to Odlo, which again sold it to Outdoor-Profis in late 2007.
