Capitalizin g on the success of its “Omni-Heat” technology for winter wear, Columbia Sportswear is seeking to boost its new high-tech image by introducing two new technologies for its spring/summer 2012 collection. It has a design patent pending on one of them and a technological patent pending on an upgrade of the other one. Using a compound whose surface is bigger than a football field on any jacket, Columbia's new “Omni-Wick Evap” system allows the sweat generated by the body to evaporate more quickly. Its other new technology, “Omni-Freeze,” lowers the temperature of the fabric when the body releases sweat, enhancing its natural cooling effect.
