Columbia is putting its OutDry Extreme membrane technology into apparel for the first time. The new technology, which will be incorporated in Columbia's clothing starting in spring 2016, is said to create an ideal balance of waterproofing and breathability. The material on the outside of the new line of clothing has waterproof seam taping and a high level of abrasion resistance. The apparel also features a wicking fabric on the inside. Standard solutions, said the company, tend to become wet over time and have membranes on the inside that can create a hot feeling for the wearer and limited breathability.
