Fjällräven has launched Samlaren (Swedish for “the gatherer”), an initiative that infuses new life into surplus material through innovative use of fabric leftovers. Samlaren products will be released in recurring, limited-edition capsule collections, the brand said. The new concept is rooted in Fjällräven’s commitment to quality and tradition of not wasting resources. The idea behind the collection is to create a sustainability and innovation initiative with a mission to explore circular economy and create inspiration for a better and more sustainable future. All products bearing the Samlaren logo are made from fabric scraps from Fjällräven’s own mills and factories. The brand guarantees that they offer the same high level of functionality, durability and reliability as any other Fjällräven product, but with upcycled materials and upscale design, which is the responsibility of Henrik Andersson, global creative director at Fjällräven. The first Samlaren product drop is a curated collection of reinvented classics made from surplus G-1000 fabric, including the classic Greenland Jacket in color block patchwork, the iconic Kånken backpack and updated versions of the brand’s tote bag and cap.
