Hi-Tec is launching a walking-footwear range made in Europe on the back of its sponsorship of the Vierdaagse, an annual four-day walking event with about 45,000 registered participants that took place last week in Nijmegen, in the south of the Netherlands. The deal has inflated Hi-Tec's sell-in in the Netherlands, where its customer list for this spring expanded from about 40 to 190 stores, ranging from footwear to sports stores. But more widely, the company is launching a range of walking shoes and apparel called the “Nijmegen collection.” For this range, Hi-Tec is the exclusive launch partner of Vibram's Rolling Gait System (RGS), with soles designed at an angle that is particularly comfortable for walking. The walking-footwear range, which was tested in a few countries last year, is designed in Italy and made in Romania.
