The Swedish brand Klättermusen has launched what it claims to be the first completely organically insulated outdoor jacket, the Farbaute. The jacket won gold in the outdoor category and the Sustainability Achievement Award at Ispo Munich earlier this year. The jury praised the jacket’s durability, functionality and design.
At the heart of the design process was the desire to be independent of synthetic fabrics and insulation techniques. The outer fabric is Katla Cotton®, a fabric designed by Klättermusen made of 100 percent GOTS organic cotton from Europe. The yarns are also made of cotton instead of nylon. The outer shell is equipped with a PFC- and PFOA-free DWR. For thermal insulation, the Swedes use a mixture of white goose down, Swiss wool and biopolyester.
