Lorpen, the Spanish brand of technical socks, will be introducing the Selective Layering System in its spring/summer 2020 collection. Through R&D carried out at its headquarters in the small town of Etxalar, at the foot of the Pyrenees Mountains, Lorpen has developed a way to vary the number of fabric layers in a sock from one spot to another. The objective was to raise the company's extant T3 system to a higher technological level, and thereby produce lighter, more elastic, more durable and more breathable socks. The new system apparently has some aesthetic benefits as well, notably allowing for curvier lines in women's models. The Selective Layering System will be incorporated into Lorpen's Light Hiker, Trail Running and Running models.
