Original Buff, the Spanish company known for its headwear, has decided to trim down its apparel collection, which represented only 5 percent of its sales, starting with the spring/summer 2014 season. Denying reports that it is stopping it completely, company officials state that it is being trimmed down, preserving only some T-shirts and some technical items worn by the sponsored athletes, which will also be available to the general public. The company launched its first runningwear collection in the summer of 2011 and followed with outdoor- and sportswear. While the company is convinced that its designs made a real difference in the rather uniform running and outdoor apparel assortments in the shops, the reception was not strong enough to encourage Buff to continue. The company will put its resources into headwear, a category where it is a landmark, with tremendous growth over the past 21 years.
