Ortovox heralds a new era in avalanche emergency equipment with the Diract Voice avalanche transceiver – and manages to score the „Product of the Year“ award by ISPO Munich in the Snowsports category. The new device was also chosen by the ISPO Open Innovation Community as the best product of the year, receiving the first ISPO Public Choice Award.
The world’s first avalanche transceiver with voice navigation reliably guides the searcher quickly to the buried victim with clear and distinct voice commands in an emergency. The design is particularly reduced and logical with only one control button, an extra-large display and a handy toggle switch to change between transmit and search mode. The device is easy to operate even with gloves on. Other features of the 3-antenna device include integrated smart antenna technology, multiple burial marker functions and post avalanche protection. The Diract Voice also works with a rechargeable low-temperature battery and updates and configuration are done via the Ortovox app.
The ISPO Award jury said: “The new Ortovox Diract Voice with voice support is a game-changer for the avalanche beacon market. It makes searching for buried subjects easier and ideally faster. The voice function is a long-overdue feature that Ortovox has finally implemented in a sleek, compact and affordable new device.”
Ortovox won four awards at this year’s ISPO Awards with products from its new 2021/22 winter collection. In addition to the Product of the Year, the German mountain sports specialist was able to accept a Gold Award each with the Free Rider backpack, the new Deep Shell freeride bip pants and the 3 Finger Glove Pro.
