A group of 17 independent Spanish retailers focusing on outdoor and mountain sports have launched a manifesto against price wars in this category. The retailers from all around the country appealed to brand owners and distributors to help create healthy competition in the Spanish market, and to protect the profit margins of specialist retailers. As reported by CMD Sport, they have asked brands and distributors to restrict sales to retailers whose strategy is focused entirely on low prices and even rebates on new products. The group has offered to function as a platform for independent retailers, to conduct debates and solve disputes arising from price wars in the Spanish outdoor market. It includes retailers like GR Zero in Barcelona and El Refugio in Alicante as well as Barrabés.
