(Already published in the Asia Outdoor issue) Coming back to Paris from the OutDoor show in Friedrichshafen on the A4 highway, we found an interesting Décathlon corner in a Total gas station, opened less than one month ago at Saint Privat near Metz. On 20 square meters, it doesn't show the Décathlon name but features some low-priced products by Quechua, Newfeel, Inesis and other private labels of the leading French sporting goods chain. Total has reported that there are similar Décathlon corners at about 20 of its 150-plus stations all over France, and that they are expected to grow to about 50 by the end of this year and to 100 by the end of 2014, but a spokesman for Décathlon says that this is only an experiment at the moment. A couple of other big retailers specializing in household appliances and recreational items have their little corners in Total stations, too.
