At the end of February, Odlo shut down its factory outlet in the southern German town of Metzingen on schedule, after a five-month trial run. Metzingen is well known as a mecca for smart shoppers in the country, much like Troyes in France. The town is the base of Hugo Boss and has attracted many apparel companies that trade from there. Odlo decided to shut its door down and to give the leftovers and samples to Human Plus, a nongovernmental organization that donates apparel to the poor in Africa. Odlo, which has collaborated with this NGO for a while, is confident that the merchandise will reach those who need it most.
