Decathlon is continuing to segment its private label offering, which has led to the creation of a label dedicated to canyoning. Maskoon was launched several weeks ago and the French retailer said it was available in most of its stores. The range includes canyoning backpacks, ropes, longjohns, jackets and socks, among other items. Managed by Ruben Grande, the brand was named after the Mascun canyon in the Sierra in Guara, one of the hotspots for canyoning near the Pyrenees in Spain. While Quechua remains Decathlon's main private label for outdoor products, it has already diversified with the acquisition of Simond for climbing products. The French brand was previously used for canyoning products as well, along with third-party brands.
