Globetrotter is increasing the number of stores again. The German outdoor retailer was reported to be preparing to open a store of 1,150 square meters in Hamburg in March, and it will open another store of a similar format on the Königsallee in Düsseldorf around the same time. Since its full takeover by Fenix Outdoor International, the Swedish-based wholesaler and retailer, Globetrotter has been tweaking its store network. It closed an outlet in Frankfurt and a store in Filderstadt that was previously trading as Woick this summer. The group says it doesn't currently have any other openings scheduled for Globetrotter, although it has started studying other sites, with sizes potentially varying depending on the city and the type of locations. Meanwhile, Globetrotter launched its new online store in September, with a cleaned-up presentation and more advanced integration with the physical store network. Apart from click-and-collect functions, consumers can enquire about the availability of products in-store, organize personal shopping sessions and obtain advice through a live chat option. As previously reported, the color scheme was changed and the layout updated, and the group added Frilufts, a private label that also has its own website. The company says it's too early to discuss the impact of the changes but the transition has worked out smoothly.
