On Oct. 1, Globetrotter will open its new “experience store” at Schloßstrasse 20 in Berlin with almost 3,000 square meters of retail space spread over four floors. The decision to move from the old store in the Berlin-Steglitz district, which is not far away from the new location, to the former premises of Sportscheck was taken in June. Instead of a kayaking pool and a cold chamber familiar from the chain’s other experience stores, customers will find a workshop, a club hut and the new Globetrotter Innovation Lab. With the new experience store, the retail chain belonging to the Swedish Fenix Outdoor Group is focusing on better service, more community and greater sustainability.
By investing in the new location, Globetrotter is making a clear statement about brick-and-mortar retail and showing that it remains relevant even in times of growing e-commerce. The new Berlin store is meant to become the chain’s new flagship store – both in terms of sustainability and shopping experience. The heart and novelty of the new store is the new Globetrotter Innovation Lab: a work and exhibition space for live innovation, cooperation and new approaches. In this space, innovative brands, products and Kickstarter projects will be displayed and explained. The co-op/workspace is also a place where different industries and business areas can come together to develop creative and innovative ideas.
