Leki, the maker of poles and gloves, is making its inroads into e-commerce. In the past few months, the company has been building up an internet platform that integrates retail customers in the sales process. Leki started with only five retailers in Germany, spread around the country to avoid regional overlaps. The results of the trial period have been surprising in the sense that the online shop was mainly used by end customers seeking high-priced and higher-end products. Leki plans to add more retailers to the system this spring who can make sure that they have the ordered products on stock and that they provide a reasonably short distance to the customer to ensure quick deliveries.
