Salomon is opening a 2,000-square-foot store in Vancouver next month. This will be the first look at its new design concept, which is warm and rustic yet contemporary, demonstrating the influence of the mountains with rough wood and rock features. A digital kiosk lets customers explore options for footwear depending on their technical needs, and the Salomon Footlab has a dedicated fitting center. The store will carry mostly softgoods, with a full range of freeski, Nordic and trail-running products. This month, another store is about to open at rue de la Pomme in Toulouse, France, on a selling surface of 100 square meters. This move comes after Salomon shut down its only full-priced store in France, located in a shopping mall of Lyon, in the summer of 2010. Reportedly, the new shop concept fits better into downtown locations rather than into shopping centers. In coming months, similar stores will open in Chamonix, France, and Moscow.
