Rumors have not stopped recently about a possible new bicycle show in Munich, perhaps as early as July 2009. The situation on the European cycle show landscape changed dramatically last year when Koelnmesse decided to halt its Ifma show and to leave this business to Messe Friedrichshafen, the organizer of both the OutDoor show and Eurobike, which is the undisputed market leader in organized cycle shows in the Old World. However ZEG, with about 900 retailers the leading buying group in Germany, always supported the show in Cologne, which is no longer. Velobiz.de, the well-informed local online news service, quotes Georg Honkomp, the group’s board member, confirming the plan to install a new show in Munich. ZEG already informed its suppliers that they should save a date in their agendas in late July, velobiz.de reports. Messe München, the organizer of important sports-related shows such as Ispo Winter, Golf Europe, Ispo China and the Running Order Show, was not ready to comment, as of this writing, but has not been busy in writing denials recently either.
