Shortly after Jack Wolfskin, Schöffel has announced it will join the Fair Wear Foundation, which monitors the social responsibility of apparel manufacturers. Schöffel already had its own code of conduct, but wants to increase its credibility through independent monitoring. Among other reasons, Schöffel picked Fair Wear for its multi-stakeholder structure. The company’s decision came shortly after the OutDoor show, where the European Outdoor Group had organized various presentations of non-governmental organizations. Mark Held, EOG’s secretary-general, told The Compass that EOG does recommend the Fair Wear Foundation to its members, but emphasized that other organizations were also recommended.
