Sätila of Sweden, a brand of ski hats founded in 1896, joined the Scandinavian Outdoor Group recently in order to gain visibility and grow its business in markets outside Scandinavia. At Ispo it sealed an agreement with a new French distributor who will develop the brand’s sales possibilities in France’s mountain regions, with the fashion segment in mind. The company manufactures 1 million hats each year from ecological cotton in its two factories in Sweden and in Estonia, generating an annual turnover of 30 million Swedish kronor (€2.77m-$3.52m) in 2008. Its Russian subsidiary was established more than ten years ago, accounting for half of its total sales.
