Timberland will open another store using its so-called Footwear Plus concept in Bern on Oct. 8. The 76-square-meter surface will be operated by the franchisees Ruedi Soltermann and Bruno Aegeter. The two retailers opened their first Timberland stores in Davos last year and in Crans-Montana in July 2008. The Footwear Plus concept refers to smaller surfaces with a focus on casual and outdoor footwear as well as an ecological approach to retailing. Melanie Christophidis is Timberland’s new field service representative for Switzerland in charge of training for the franchisees and retailers. In Switzerland, Germany, and the Czech Republic, Timberland invites end consumers to spend more than €50 on the brand’s products. Under the slogan “You buy – we plant”, Timberland promises to plant a tree for each customer in the countries mentioned above. The campaign runs from Oct. 20 through 25.
