Sanitized, the Swiss-based specialist in antibacterial finishings, has said that treating polyester with its additives can reduce viral load by up to 99 percent. The Sanitized T99-19 and T11-15 have been tested by independent laboratories, which have found them “verifiably effective” against viruses in accordance with the ISO18184:2019 standard. This is ISO’s dedicated standard for the “Determination of antiviral activity of textile products”. The tests were conducted using a feline coronavirus that possesses structures and mechanisms reminiscent of the SARS-Cov2, thereby facilitating inferences about Covid-19, Sanitized explained. The antiviral treatment is said to be suitable for face masks, protective medical clothing, mattresses or bed linen.
