Outdoor Retailer (OR) will host its first-ever on-mountain winter experience and industry day in January alongside the Outdoor Retailer Snow Show in Salt Lake City, Utah. “The Summit by OR” will take place on Monday, Jan. 9, 2023, at Brighton Resort and Solitude Nordic & Snowshoe Center and will feature professionally curated winter sports activities and guided courses for buyers and media. Outdoor and snowsports brands can get involved through hands-on product demonstrations and equipment testing as part of the scheduled activities, as well as in a market village open to OR attendees and the public. In addition, all registered OR attendees will have access to discounted lift tickets for full mountain access, and an evening media preview will give journalists early access to the latest gear.
“The Summit by Outdoor Retailer will kick off the week with a truly engaging celebration of winter sports out on the snow,” commented Marisa Nicholson, senior vice president and show director of OR.
Activities during The Summit are tailored to participants of all abilities – from beginner to expert – and will include ski touring, splitboarding, Nordic skiing, snowshoe hiking, winter fat tire biking, winter running, orienteering, winter first aid, avalanche essentials and more.

Journalists are invited to join the on-mountain experiences on Monday, Jan. 9, to test new winter gear on the snow and learn new skills. That evening, a media preview and après-ski event at the new Hyatt Regency Salt Lake will offer media early access to the latest outdoor and winter products from various brands. This expanded, media-only event offers brand representatives and journalists the opportunity to learn in-depth about the latest gear shaping the outdoor experience.
