Roger Zeng, president of the China Outdoor Retailers Association (CORA), will be among the speakers featured at the European Outdoor Industry Forum in Annecy next Oct. 11-12, complementing presentations by Mark Held and Frank Hugelmeyer, who run the European Outdoor Group (EOG) and the U.S. Outdoor Industry Association (OIA), respectively. Educated in Toronto, Zeng co-founded a distributorship for outdoor products in Beijing, Snowpeak, which was subsequently taken over by Sunwind Outdoor, a specialty retailer that now has six shops. He founded CORA in March 2005 to help Chinese retailers in staff training and merchandising, and to facilitate market entry by foreign outdoor brands. Shedding more light on the rapidly increasing outdoor retail market in China, Heng Zhang, founder and chief executive of Sanfo, is set to participate in an international round-table discussion moderated by Eugenio Di Maria, publisher of Sporting Goods Intelligence Europe and The Outdoor Industry Compass, which will continue to sponsor the forum.
