The fifth annual Outdoor Inspiration Awards will introduce new categories at the 2014 Outsiders Ball, which will be held during Outdoor Retailer Summer Market, on Aug. 5. The Outdoor Inspiration Awards, presented by Adidas Outdoor, recognize individuals, groups, and companies who are breaking new ground in encouraging others to participate in outdoor activities. The awards will now feature new categories for retailers, non-profits and youth, in addition to the original categories for manufacturers and individuals. Outdoor Retailer, who stages the awards ceremony, will ask attendees at the Outsiders Ball to submit ideas about “who inspires” them by posting their thoughts on a large board at the entrance. These ideas will be used in social media as the nomination process proceeds through the autumn. Award winners will be announced at a ceremony at the Salt Palace Convention Center on Jan. 22, 2015, at Outdoor Retailer Winter Market. Nominations are now being accepted on the Outdoor Retailer website. Nominations are due no later than Nov. 21. Adidas Outdoor works with Outdoor Retailer and its panel of industry leaders to select the annual winners. In addition to title sponsor Adidas Outdoor, other sponsors include Boy Scouts of America as a presenting sponsor and PrimaLoft.
