The Outdoor Retailer Summer Market later this week will host a “Made in America Showcase,” featuring 30 products by American manufacturers, in the upper concourse near the East Entrance of the Salt Palace Convention Center. The Outdoor Industry Association (OIA) has taken this initiative together with the organizers of the show due to emerging demand for such products in the U.S. A recent survey by the Boston Consulting Group indicates that U.S. customers may be willing to pay between 10 and 60 percent more for U.S.-made products. The OIA set up last year a Made in America Working Group, which currently consists of more than 150 companies, to discuss governmental guidelines and other issues. A brief educational forum on Made in America trends and challenges will be held on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in the New Product Zone on the show floor.
