With growth of 20 percent in global wholesale revenues, Berghaus was one of the fastest-growing brands last year at Pentland Group, which has just announced a 9 percent increase in group revenues to £1,134 million (€1,375m-$1,724m) and a 16 percent rise in operating profit to £79.4 million (€96.3m-$120.7m), in spite of the poor economy and the strength of the U.S. dollar. Company officials declined to provide specific figures for any of its different operations, but said Berghaus grew strongly in the U.K. and made major progress in developing its presence in China, Korea and Japan. As a group, the group’s brands contributed to the growth in Pentland’s sales and profits. A major contribution came also from Pentland’s 57 percent shareholding in JD Sports Fashion, the British chain of sports and fashion stores.
