Scandinavian Outdoor Group (SOG) member Dometic keeps on buying companies internationally: On July 2, it acquired Büttner Elektronik, a German provider specialized in mobile power solutions for the outdoor segment, including solar power solutions, batteries and battery chargers. The company’s 2020 net sales (primarily sold in Germany) were approximately €13 million. About 75 percent of net sales are in service and aftermarket. Büttner Elektronik is privately owned, has 17 employees and is headquartered in Neuenkirchen, Germany.
With the acquisition of Büttner Elektronik, the Swedish company is further expanding its offering of mobile power products for the European outdoor market. Expansion in the fast-growing market for mobile power solutions is officially a strategic priority for Dometic. According to a press statement, the market demand for sustainable and effective off-grid mobile power solutions is rapidly increasing as more and more people spend time outdoors using a vehicle or boat as their base.
“Our strategy for profitable expansion in mobile living is built on a combination of organic and acquisitive growth. This is our sixth announced acquisition this year and our pipeline of potential future acquisitions remains strong,” said Juan Vargues, president and CEO of Dometic. In April and May 2021, the Stockholm-based company had already acquired the Australian company Enerdrive, Zamp Solar from the U.S. and Front Runner from South Africa.
