Ferrino has announced that Krzysztof Wielicki, the Polish mountaineer who collaborates with the brand, has won a Piolet d'Or for 2019, equivalent to an Oscar for mountaineers, as the company called it. Wielicki has been one of the first to complete all the 14 eight-thousand climbs, and the first to climb the Everest, Kangchenjunga and Lhotse in winter. Ferrino followed him in the winter of 2017/2018, when he was the leader of the Polish expedition that attempted the first K2 in winter. The team was equipped with tents, sleeping bags and backpacks from the High Lab Ferrino collection. Wielicki used Ferrino tents for the first time in the winter of 1990/1991, during an attempt to climb the Makalu (8,486m). His team was also equipped with Ferrino tents in the winter 2017/2018, for the attempt on K2. The collaboration between the mountaineer and Ferrino is ongoing. Together with legends such as the late Walter Bonatti and Reinhold Messner, Wielicki is considered one of the greatest mountaineers in history and an inspiration for many generations of climbers.
