Gucci has revealed that it is partnering with The North Face for an unspecified collaboration in the coming months “that celebrates the rich heritage of both brands.” For the big Italian luxury brand, it is the first collaboration of this kind since Alessandro Michele became its creative director five years ago, leading Gucci to explosive growth. For TNF – which has teamed with Supreme and other streetwear or designer brands, including most recently Maison Margiela – this can be seen as an effort to cultivate the brand’s lifestyle segment as in the 1980s, when its outerwear was worn in the streets of Tokyo and other cities around the world. Gucci announced the new partnership through two short videos of a co-branded flag, set against natural landscapes, posted with the hashtag #TheNorthFaceGucci on Instagram and TikTok. The first fruits of the collaboration will probably be unveiled before the end of the year.
