Nick Cienski, a 47-year-old mountaineer and an award-winning designer for Under Armour, plans to set a new record by climbing to the summit of the 14 tallest mountains in the world in only 24 months. He will be aided by large teams of sherpas and by helicopters that will fly him between base camps. While accomplishing this challenge, which will be widely publicized, he wants to raise money for his own nonprofit foundation, Mission 14, which fights against all forms of slavery around the world. Cienski has designed a set of 14 highly technical garments for this mission in cooperation with a large apparel manufacturer in Vietnam, Max Sport, and with Cocona, the supplier of climate-control fibers. Both will act as sponsors, but Cocona, which recently went under new management, will soon announce a new brand name (more on this shortly).
