Austrian Anna Veith, until recently sponsored by Head, Bollé and Komperdell among others, has announced her retirement from alpine ski racing. In her 10 years in the alpine ski World Cup, she won one Olympic gold medal, two Olympic silver medals, three world championship titles, 15 FIS World Cup victories and the overall World Cup twice. The giant slalom, super-g and downhill specialist also suffered several injuries in her career and had to undergo surgery. Together with her husband Manuel, she is also running a boutique hotel in Rohrmos near Schladming, Austria, which also houses a sports shop and ski rental.
